I’ve been working a ton on music pretty solidly this entire past year. I initially started off writing these latest songs and was planning to release a short 3-song EP earlier this year. I probably shouldn't say 'short' EP as one of the songs hits past the 10 minute mark.
As I worked on the mixes, I found myself recording more and more and playing around with new ideas quite a bit. I even delved into the realm of vocals which I haven’t done for a long time, plus I had some demos that I had recorded and really wanted to re-work some of the tracks. I have gotten pretty excited about how everything is sounding now and I'm pleased with how the material is coming together.
I’ve always tossed around the idea of having a sound engineer mix my tracks (which would be the professional thing to do anyways, right?) but, I have never actually done so, until recently. After mixing my latest track as far I could—which is darker, more percussive and ambient track that stretches to the eleven minute marker—I decided to hand it off to a good friend of mine to mix it and add his expert touch to it. I’m pretty excited to hear the outcome and I’m positive it’ll sound far better than what I could’ve done on my own. Sometimes you have to let go and see what happens. I’ll keep you updated.
